Ambassador of Pakistan to the Kingdom of Norway
Mr. Asim Ali Khan assumed charge as Ambassador of Pakistan to the Kingdom of Norway on 12 August 2026.
Ambassador Khan is a career diplomat and a member of the Foreign Service of Pakistan since 2003. Over more than two decades of diplomatic service, he has served in a range of important assignments in China, the United States, Canada and France, as well as at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad.
Prior to his present assignment, Ambassador Khan served as Consul General of Pakistan in Los Angeles, United States. He has also served as Director General at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad, and as Director at the President’s Secretariat, Islamabad, in addition to undertaking various other diplomatic assignments.
Ambassador Khan has extensive experience in bilateral and multilateral diplomacy, with expertise spanning foreign policy, economic diplomacy, international security, consular affairs, administration and engagement with overseas Pakistani communities. Throughout his career, he has dealt with a broad range of complex diplomatic, political, economic and security matters and has represented Pakistan in diverse international and bilateral forums.
Ambassador Khan holds a Master’s degree in International Relations and a Bachelor’s degree with Honours in Mechanical Engineering. He speaks Urdu, English and French.
In recognition of his distinguished and meritorious public service, the President of Pakistan conferred upon him the Sitara-i-Imtiaz, one of Pakistan’s prestigious civil awards, on Pakistan Day in 2023. In 2024, he was also honoured with the Anniversary Medal by the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation’s Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (SCO-RATS) on the occasion of its 20th anniversary.
Ambassador Asim Ali Khan is married and has three children.
